Friends of IFME

In November 2023, IFME had a great opportunity to meet with their most recent full member, the Ethiopian Association of Civil Engineers. They have their office and training centre in Addis Ababa, the capitol of Ethiopia. Pieter Wiekeraad, our Treasurer met their CEO, eng. Amanuel Hailemariam on his way to Kenya for the 30^th convention of the Institute of Engineers Kenya. There he would also meet with Mr. Yonas Ayalew Tessema, the President of EACE.

During his visit in Ethiopia, Pieter had the opportunity to speak about the common goals of EACE and IFME, their membership, their involvement and participation in the international family of IFME and their possible presentation of a paper during the next triennial conference of IFME, Future Green Cities in September 2024 in Utrecht, The Netherlands. We are expecting many papers from our international community and friends and colleagues in civil engineering. 

At the conference of IEK in Mombasa, Kenya, Pieter had an extensive meeting with Mr. Yonas Tessema, President of EACE. They discussed cooperation, involvement, mutual benefits and added value for their members and the international community.

Pieter was warmly welcomed by Amanuel and his staff and had fruitful meetings.
