The Secretary General of IFME, Chris Champion, was invited to presented on "Sustainability is for the Long Term" at JKR Sabah's Roads Conference in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. JKR is the Public Works Department in Sabah.

Sustainability is about the Long Term

Sustainability is about the Long Term. It is about resilient communities served by sound infrastructure. How can we expect long life infrastructure, such as roads, to be sustainable if we don’t plan and invest for the long term? What are the risks of extreme weather events on the sustainability of our road infrastructure …and on our communities? How do we invest for the future?

The way forward is presented by adopting an infrastructure asset management and investment framework that seeks to balance our competing priorities, risks, services and critical infrastructure needs.

JKR Sabah is about to start the Pan Borneo Highway as biggest ever @publicworks project in Sabah. The conference opened by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman.

Public Works Department director, Amrullah Kamal, said in his presentation that the highway will become a strong catalyst to boost economic activities within the State and accelerate economic growth along the special economic zones of Sabah Development Corridors (SDC).
