Building the Future Green City:
A New Collaboration Between IFME and World Urban Parks π
We are pleased to announce the Utrecht Commitment, jointly agreed upon by the IFME International Federation of Municipal Engineering and World Urban Parks (WUP), during the Future Green City World Congress 2024 in #Utrecht, The Netherlands.
This collaboration, borne out of our joint hosting of the congress, underscores the vital role municipal engineers and public works professionals, and urban parks managers and practitioners, play in shaping cities that are sustainable, resilient, biodiverse and vibrant. We recognise that tackling todayβs urban challenges requires bridging the expertise of engineering, public works, parks and environmental professionals.
A special thanks to Koninklijke Vereniging Stadswerk Nederland for their invaluable role in organising the congress and uniting public works and green professionals. Together, we are committed to promoting nature-based solutions, advocating for green infrastructure policies, and mentoring the next generation of professionals.
The Utrecht Commitment is a call to action to foster collaboration, integrate sustainable practices in daily work, and ensure cities that prioritise human well-being and environmental health. We are proud to take this forward and encourage others to join us on this journey toward building the Future Green City.
